Eligibility Criteria for each program:
The College of Physiotherapy was a long-standing dream of our Chairman Prof. A. Kanagaraj MA, MPhil, PhD. He had been a greet Philanthropist, rotation a long time Serving president of Lions club. During his tenure he had been observing a lot of children mentally retarded, physically disabled handicapped suffering from lack of proper Physiotherapy Rehabilitation services in the remote pockets of Tiruvallur district. This gore the immediate impetus to start the full-fledged Physiotherapy College to provide quality Physiotherapy services excellent opportunity for budding youngsters to learn yet another professional course Bachelor of Physiotherapy (4 ½ years) under the name style of Jaya College of Paramedical Sciences, College of Physiotherapy within the ambit of Jaya Arts Science College Campus. This was strategically located adjacent to Nemilicherry Railway station abutting the C.T.H Road so on to provide access to all patients students from remote corners of Tiruvallur district.
The State Govt. of Tamil Nadu accorded the sanction to start the course vide G.O MS No.671 dated 15.12.1998. Subsequently, The T.N. Dr. MGR Medical University approved & affiliated the college in the year 2000. The College Advisory Board comprised of Chairman Prof. A. Kanagaraj ably guided by Prof. Dr. Ravindranath, M.D (PMR), the former Director of Medical Education, Prof. Dr. B.M. Mahender, M.S (Ortho), Dr. Varadharajan, M.S (Gen. Surg.), Chairman, ESSVEE Hospitals, Ambattur, Dr. R.N. Babu, Managing Director, Dr. Ravindran, Health Care Centre & Hospital, Ambattur, Prof. B.S.Desikamani, former President, Indian Association of Physiotherapists. This team planned the functioning of college, selection of faculty members for recruitment, Schedule of clinical postings for students, monitored methods of evaluation, organizing camps & awareness rallies among general public about Physiotherapy & its importance.
The college was accorded Linguistic minority status by the State & Central governments. The sanctioned strength was fifty per batch. By the time of course completion of first batch of students, the college was also approved by Indian Association of Physiotherapists, Delhi.
